Mainly (but not exclusively) a capella

Barbishop is an all-female close harmony group which formed in 1999 from members and friends of Holy Cross Church Choir in Bearsted. The group performs a broad repertoire of music from Palestrina through to more modern numbers made popular by artists such as The Andrews Sisters, Bette Midler, The Carpenters and Frank Sinatra. One notable addition that makes Barbishop unique is the double bass, which features in many of the numbers. In order to accommodate this unusual scoring and broaden the repertoire of the group, much of the music has been specifically arranged by Director of Music, Justyne Nelson.
